WSCUC Accreditation Reaffirmation
University Accreditation Reaffirmation 2025
As part of maintaining university accreditation, ÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø (and all California State Universities) periodically undergo a reaffirmation of accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). Learn more.
More Information:
Messages from the President
Dear ÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø community,
In the fall of 2022, I announced the formal launch of the university-wide process for reaffirmation of our accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, a process that occurs at least every 10 years. ÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø has been accredited by WASC since 1961, and we embrace reaffirmation as part of our continuous assessment and improvement efforts. Accreditation ensures recognition and transfer of degrees and is also required for state funding and federal aid.
Since then, over 100 faculty, students, staff, and leadership have contributed to this critical University-wide effort through completing a comprehensive self-study followed by a draft of an institutional report that candidly and transparently reports on our steady progress in educating our students over the last 10 years since our last reaffirmation.
You are invited to review of the institutional report. Your comments on the draft are welcome and can be provided through May 17th, 2024. Our institutional report will be submitted at the end of summer, 2024.
Dr. Fanny Yeung and I will continue to keep you updated on our preparation and your involvement from now until the official WASC team visit in spring 2025. Watch this for more on the process.
Sincerely,
Cathy Sandeen
President

Dear ÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø community,
I hope this first month of the academic year has been off to a great start. This is indeed an exciting time at ÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø with more in-person activity and as we affirm and begin to implement high-level priorities for the university’s future.
This semester is also a time for us to formally launch the process for reaffirmation of our accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, a process that occurs at least every 10 years. ÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø has been accredited by WASC since 1961. We embrace the reaffirmation process as part of our continuous assessment and improvement process.
Accreditation continues to be very important to us, demonstrating how the university meets acceptable levels of quality. This ensures that the credits and degrees earned by students continue to be recognized for employment, graduate study, and/or transfer to other institutions. Regional accreditation is also required for state funding and federal financial aid.
Our entire university will be engaged in this critical effort over the next few years. To begin, some standing committees and newly formed committees of faculty, staff, students and campus leaders will convene to contribute to a comprehensive self-study that will candidly and transparently report on our successes and steady progress in educating our students.
This project will continue to evolve more fully this academic year, and it will be important for our campus community to become informed and involved. Cabinet members and I look forward to updating you regularly on our preparation for this important process from now until the official WASC team visit in 2025.
Thank you for your engagement and interest in this process.
With warm regards,
Cathy Sandeen
President
